Hi there! The FixYaFace Inner Beauty/Outer Wellness Blogazine is honored to see you here once again or for the very first time. Your choosing to share these precious minutes with us, means more than you know:) For that I thank YOU and welcome the creative dialog as well as inspirational input. I am enthused by our mutual ideas on positive outlooks intertwining with "the individuals" acceptable results. Results partial orchestrated by our thoughts, our movements here and by our faith. Let us hold on to the idea of all 3 while we attempt to genuinely smile "inside" about what led us here now.
I am extremely grateful to be a work in progress. HE is far from done with me. I smile inside as I am humbled and reflect. Hurt can be just 1 incident away so let's circulate the positive energy that demotes it. The turbulences of life have a way of sneaking in loudly to confuse and distract us- like a bad song. Through a 'personal mixture' of good family, experience in several emotions, goal focus and faith (in ourselves & a higher power)-the disturbance in each instance can be minimized. Harmony of a soothing melody can prevail again! YAAAY YOU! Stay calm. Your calm is your charm. Treasure what makes you unique and functioning. All of it is yours. Stay you. Hold on to your smile inside that creates your next best move. Hold on to your peace. Energy snatchers lurk in your everyday situations but remember what YOU have in your secret stash of joy and hold on! Things may get bad before they get great. GREAT, is what YOU are in someones eye already-even if it's the pair in the mirror. Always attempt to make your next move a clear move for YOU! The cheering section can only cheer AFTER you perfected the play. You ARE lucky, learning and loved.
As always, like-minded, positive people will always find each other. And it's always pleasure to see you here at FYF:) At some point you have to smile about it. So have fun! Have faith! And FIX YA FACE!
Exercises Of The Month: 1. Drink 1 more glass of water 2. If a effort is going great for you, KEEP GOING! 3. Experience a walk, a new salad dressing or new book.

The Mango Tango**************************************************************
As per Library.ThinkQuest.org, AUGUST is National Eye Exam Month
Friday August 1, 2008
The New Fruit Of The Month is Mango. The mango has, but not limited to, Vitamin A (helps prevent viral infections, maintain eyesight health), Calcium (promotes strong bones, muscle contractions and lowers blood pressure), Carotene antioxidant and Vitamin C(aims to absorb iron, halt anemia in vegetarians & make healthy tissue). The mango is low in carbohydrates but high on the list of fruits that fight heart disease. As always, take advantage of the great properties that summer fruits have to offer your lifestyle and enjoy fun ways of maintaining your healthy outlook.

Mini Skin Me Fruit Salad August 08
We drank 1 cup of water before indulging in this delight. Remove the skin of the mango. Then slice the mango in 4 quarters. I slice those quarters into cube size. I place a thin layer of whip cream in the bottom of a few short 8 oz. wine glasses. Mix a handful of mango cubes, pineapple chunks and soft raisins. Scoop the fruits on top of the whip cream layer. No top layer of whip cream. Refrigerate for 5 minutes and share. It's a Mini "Skin Me" because I'm only using three fruits (usually it's 4 ). But these fruits' properties promote healthy skin. It's best to have sugar in moderation so don't overdue it, if you try it:)

Simply Delicioso with Ingrid Hoffmann, All Rights Reserved
Shrimp and Mango Adobado Salad with Roasted Corn and Avocado Salsa
For the salad:
Wooden skewers
4 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon coarse salt
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons sweet paprika
Freshly ground black pepper
Pinch cayenne pepper (or more if you're brave!)
1 cup freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
2 limes, juiced
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 pounds jumbo shrimp peeled and deveined, tails left intact
2 large ripe and firm mangos, peeled, sliced, and cut into long wedges
For the salsa:
4 ears corn husks and corn silk discarded
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 ripe Hass avocados, peeled, pitted, and cubed
1 lime, juiced
1 small red onion, finely chopped
1 red bell pepper, seeded and finely chopped
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely minced
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro or basil, plus more for garnish
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
6 cups mixed salad greens or baby spinach
Put wooden skewers in a pan of water for 30 minutes, so they don't burn on the grill.
To make the marinade:
Put the garlic on a cutting board and coarsely chop. Sprinkle with coarse salt and mash the garlic into a paste with the side of the knife. Put the garlic paste in a bowl. Add the cumin, oregano, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne. Mix to combine. Stir in the grapefruit juice, lime juice, and oil. Pour out about 1/3 of the marinade and put into a small bowl. Reserve for dressing the salad.
Thread the shrimp and mango onto separate skewers and put side-by-side in a baking dish. Pour the remaining marinade over the shrimp and mango; cover with plastic wrap. Put in the refrigerator and allow to marinate for about 30 minutes, flipping the skewers occasionally.
To make the salsa:
Preheat an outdoor grill or grill pan to medium-high (you may also preheat the oven broiler.)
Rub the corn with 2 tablespoons of the oil and season with salt and pepper. Put the corn directly on the grill grates (or put in a baking pan if using oven method) and cook until the kernels are slightly charred on all sides, turning every couple of minutes. Remove from the heat. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the kernels off of the cobs and put in a mixing bowl. Add the avocado, lime juice, onions, bell peppers, jalapeno, cilantro, vinegar, and remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Season with salt and pepper.
Grill (or broil) the shrimp until curled, pink and slightly charred on both sides, about 2 to 3 minutes total cooking time. Cook the mangos until grill marks appear, about 1 minute on each side.
Divide the mixed greens evenly among 4 plates. Drizzle the reserved mango marinade over the greens. Top with shrimp and mango skewers and a couple of spoonfuls of the roasted corn and avocado salsa. Garnish with some chopped cilantro serve with remaining salsa on the side. Some

AESHIA DE VORE BRANCH (NEW JERSEY)
1. If there's a song that reflects your vibe, what would that song be? Why? Do you meditate, pray or/and take time to mentally relax? If so what part of the day/how long?
“Lovely Day” by Bill Withers. I smile every time the beat drops on that song. It makes everything ok no matter what I’m going through. The song also reflects the vibe that radiates from my soul.
I take time to mentally relax while I do my favorite workout, yoga. Anytime of the day I can fit it in is great, but I really need to start making a conscious effort to schedule meditation into my day. Running a new business, freelance TV producing, and being a mother and a wife consumes a large portion of my day. I have a 12 yr. Old stepdaughter named Azure and my 1st child is due Nov. 20th (a day after my birthday) with my husband Al Branch, music executive/manager.
2. Tell us about TEENDIARIESONLINE.COM, TEENDIARIES.TV and what prompted you to create the outlets?
Teen Diaries is a product of necessity and timing. When I was working in the music video division of a production company (Radical Media), Tyra Banks had just launched her talk show and it became the only talk show that spoke directly to younger women. But her topics rarely addressed issues that teens or college students specifically face each day (i.e. teen pregnancy, racial discrimination in high schools, decorating a dorm room, body image, pop culture, etc.). Her show has entered into this realm since its’ launch in 2005, but there is still a need for a show that is strictly for teens. The more I think about it, the only talk show that addressed teen issues and was hosted by teens was BET’s Teen Summit, but the entertainment factor was missing from that forum. While I was in high school, I watched Ricky Lake and Teen Summit and then when I went to college, I became addicted to the Jerry Springer Show - clearly not the best way to spend my time, but I had nothing else to do and it was entertaining. Myspace hadn’t launched yet:-) So I wanted to fill a void in the media by creating content (a talk show, website, online TV network, etc.) that gave teens (especially urban teens) an outlet to express themselves, get advice, and be exposed to topics that directly affect them. My business partner, Nicole Johnson Roberson, who’s background is in teen/family clinical therapy, came on board as President and now we’ve built a media company that services a demographic that is currently under-served. Teen Diaries is entertaining, positive, and helps 13-22 year old women transition into adulthood. We work hard everyday to do our part to make a difference in communities across the globe.
3. What part of your life's journey lead you on your path to Mass Communications? (please included if there was a person, a situation or an epiphany, etc)
As a child, I wanted to be an architect, then a model, and then a fashion designer. I actually started a career as a model (signed with Wilhelmina), but as I reached my senior year in high school I began to realize that my number one love was media. Most of my free time (outside of playing sports) was spent watching and analyzing TV shows, reading magazines, or pretending to do what I do today:-) My dad tried to convince me to follow a career in law because I love to talk, but my personality lead me to Mass Comm. My dad told me that while I’m young and free of responsibility, I should do what I love first and not to worry about the money or anything else. So I followed his advice and here I am today.
4. With your successful experiences (such as being a TV producer, writer and a community member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Incorporated Sorority) allowing you to connect with people across the globe, what are some of your day to day activities? What EXCITES you about any ONE of your day to day activities?
I usually work and take business meetings during the day. I hate to call it work because I have so much fun doing it. I research the latest stories in entertainment that appeal to our demographic, interview celebrities, and take meetings with industry executives to see how we can expand our company. In between, I find time to eat, exercise, and spend time with family friends. Many of my friends work in the industry so we spend most of our time at great restaurants, industry events, and backstage at concerts. My days are usually fun-filled. Even if I never leave the house or change out of my pajamas:-), I’m just thankful to have a life that I enjoy. Such a blessing.
5. What do you do for fun? What new fun thing would you like to try?
I have the most fun hanging out with my family at amusement parks or goofing around with my friends on the beach. But I also enjoy reading a good book, watching TV, and eating good food. I’m also addicted to reading fashion magazines.
I’ve always wanted to swim with a dolphin. Maybe one day I will build up the courage to do so.
6. One thing on my Life List is...that I would love to meet and work with Oprah Winfrey!!! I know a million other women have this same goal on their life list, but this is my ultimate dream so I’m sticking to it. If I continue to put this wish out into the universe, it is more likely to come true:-) I know you only said one thing, but I couldn’t resist adding two. Is also want to go on a safari in Africa!
7. What/Who keeps your grounded in this ever changing world?
My father, my husband, BFF (Lachelle Morris), and my business partner (Nicole Roberson) help ground me. They give the best advice because they are all brutally honest as well as encouraging.
8. What are 2 qualities that you prefer and respect about your mate at this point in your life?
I respect his honesty and determination to, not only succeed in his career, but also be a great husband and father.
9. Who gave you 1 really good piece of advice early on and what was it?
My father (Maurice DeVore) always warned me to start saving money at an early age. I never used his advice to the fullest, but the message still resonates within me and that is why I am a conservative spender. Like the saying goes: “It’s not how much money you make, it’s how much you save.”
10. What piece of business advice would you like to share?
I can’t say this enough: In business, you should always keep your integrity and relationships. The interns that currently work for you may one day run the company that you need to do business with so you should treat everyone, at every level, equally. Also, it is important to stay true to yourself and never compromise your dignity or respect to get a paycheck.
11. Brownstone, Town House OR Condominium? High Heel, Low Heel OR No Heel? Good Food, Good Sleep OR Good Book?
I would love to renovate a brownstone in Hoboken, NJ one day, but I definitely enjoy living in my house. I love high heels, and really appreciate a cute flat now that I’m pregnant. I love to eat so I will have to go with GOOD FOOD:-)
12. What word would best describe you right now? Determined

NICOLE ROBERSON (NEW YORK)
1. If there is a song that reflects your vibe, what would that song be? Why? Is there a color that you like to wear this season that induces vibrant thoughts? Do you meditate, pray or/and take time to mentally relax? If so what part of the day/how long?
Choosing one song that reflects my vibe is pretty difficult since I feel like there are many unique pieces of my personality that make up my overall vibe. If I had to choose one I would have to go with Destiny’s Child’s ‘Survivor’. It is by far NOT my favorite song but the words are priceless. I really believe that I am a survivor despite the storms I’ve had to endure. I pray constantly. For me, prayer is more like having simple conversations with God about/and during various parts of my day versus something only said once at the end of the night.
2. What new initiatives would you like see TEEN DIARIES take part in, as per the future?
Since we are a new company, there are many initiatives that Aeshia and I would like to pursue. I particularly would like to see TEEN Diaries initiate several community based projects that empower young women with the tools that are necessary to transition to adulthood successfully. For example, I envision translating certain aspects of our current site www.TeenDiariesOnline.com like the ‘I Want Her Job’ segment that introduces our readers to nontraditional career opportunities into live workshops and camp opportunities.
3. Tell us about The BUDDY PROGRAM and what prompted you to create the outlet?
The BUDDY Program (Building Up Dreams in Disadvantaged Youth) is a nonprofit therapeutic mentoring program that will help young girls of color establish and fulfill pertinent life goals by linking them with professional women of color. There will be a unique therapeutic component to the program that will be offered to at-risk girls of color. They will be linked to mentors with specialties in behavioral and/or other health related fields.
4. What part of your life's journey lead you on your educational path to a Masters in Clinical Social Work?
I have a family member who went to play therapy when she was a child as a result of severe family problems. She came home one evening with a picture of two stick figures drawn on a piece of paper. When I asked her about the picture she pointed to one of the figures and said ‘that’s me’. I pointed to the other figure on the paper and asked ‘who’s that’? She said ‘the lady told me to draw my favorite person, so I drew you’. It goes without saying that the moment touched me deeply but it also sparked my interest in the whole process of therapy. When I went to college my interest just continued.
5. With your successful experiences (such as connect with youth bloggers, providing clinical direction as a E-Mentor and marketing strategist) allowing you to connect with people across the globe, what are some of your day to day activities? What EXCITES you about any ONE of your day to day activities?
All entrepreneurs know that working for yourself is harder than working for someone else. There are no boundaries with time and you end up making a lot of sacrifices. I enjoy putting different articles on the site but my favorite part of the day or the activity that most excites me is reading the inquiries that come in for Dear Nicole. It is amazing to see the wide range of questions our readers ask. They definitely keep me on my toes. I love it!!
6. What do you do for fun? What new fun thing would you like to try?
I’m going through a transition right now so fun isn’t really on the top of my list. I usually try to mix my fun with something beautiful and relaxing. Spas and exotic islands…that’s fun to me! I am pretty adventurous. I love to ride horses. So, I think I would like to get more involved in the equestrian world.
7. One thing on my Life List is to get my doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. When l was younger and my friends were dreaming about having kids and getting married, I was dreaming about being a doctor.
8. What/Who keeps your grounded in this ever changing world?
My mother. I know that at the end of a hectic day she will be there. My mother is an incredible woman. She believes that every woman should be a complete package. Her favorite saying is ‘a woman should know how to change a tire as well as she knows how to cook a good meal’. She always pushes me to the next level. I wouldn’t be who I am today without her love, support and direction.
9. What are 2 qualities that you prefer and respect about your mate at this point in your life?
It’s hard to choose only two qualities but I guess I would have to say honesty and dedication. When it comes to a commitment, those involved have to be honest with one another as well as dedicated to their commitment and all it takes to cultivate it, regardless of the rough spots.
10. Who gave you 1 really good piece of advice early on and what was it?
At the beginning of my career as a clinical therapist, one of my clinical supervisors told me that in life your approach is everything. What she meant was that if one planned their approach carefully, they could achieve their goal (i.e. if I approached an angry kid in a hostile manner, I would likely get hostility in return). The advice is priceless and can be applied to every area of your life no matter how big or small the matter may be.
11. What piece of business advice would you like to share?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. That’s the only way you’re going to learn. And don’t be afraid to take risks because even if the outcome is not as planned, the only way you’ll really fail is if you don’t try at all.
12. Brownstone, Town House OR Condominium? Put In order of importance: Great Food- Great Sleep-Great Mate.
Condominium. That’s the space I am in right now in my life. I want everything right there under my fingertips. Great Mate-Great Food-Great Sleep. Support and love from someone who really has your best interests at heart is like fuel for the soul.
13. What word would best describe you right now? Blessed. At the end of the day, that’s what I am.

Natures Dance A Peom By Hope (16) Michigan
Tick! Tip! Tap!
The sound of my pigeon sized shoes against the concrete floor.
Dancing like sun against water. Happy as ever.
With nothing stopping me. Moving like the breeze so calm and gentle.
Graceful. Dancing like no child had ever danced before.
No technique just the style of the heart. Moving freely like the leaves on a tree.
The love of dance keeps my nature streaming.
