IT'S ALL LOVE

Hi there Ladies and Gentlemen! How are you feeling? Great I hope!! May every feeling be a great prelude to a wonderful life changing action. There is nothing more powerful than your feelings. From moments to minutes to seconds we are either using or releasing the power. For it is our knowledge of self worth in each moment, that will lead us to express what we truly want to happen next in that minute. Hope you feel loved every step of the way as you re-evaluate your next desired expression and offering to this precious world. Tomorrow is so far gone and everything you ever wanted to FEEL is possible right now. Our feelings should make us reach out and touch our dreams with both hands. No matter what the struggle appears to be, we will be alright with our faith and the highest power above guiding.

For it is all and only love that we need to go on. Actions of love, people to love, people that love us and loving thoughts towards our situation within this day. With every event at hand, let's hope to attach our joy to our determination, so we can feel good about getting to the "getting through" part of it. Each and every one of us have a grand inner strength that is yet to be reveal. I believe it grows as we give our time, offerings and efforts. Here's to all the wonderful events of our lives being built on layers of love. As we reminisce, renew and re-think, we can't help but smile about it from the inside first!
That is how you have fun, have faith and Fix Ya Face:)

Have a wonderful FEBRUARY!!! IT'S YOURS! See you soon.

Plantain Pleasures

The Food Of The Month is the Plantain. There are several benefits to partaking in this type of banana. Ranging from easy to cook, great to taste to greater nutrients such as Potassium (heart health/blood pressure regulating), Pectin (lowers cholesterol/aids in bowel functions), Vitamin B6 and Vitamin C.

Please use your own personal discretion /caution if you are allergic, sensitive or unsure.

Plantain and Black Bean Fritters

Recipes courtesy Sue Torres, Cooking Live: Episode: Quick Cuisine: Cook Along

Ingredients

Black Bean Filling:

  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 cup dried black beans, picked over and soaked overnight
  • Pinch dried oregano, optional

Directions

Drain the bean liquid and rinse. Heat a small saucepan with enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan, over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook until translucent, about 4 minutes. Add the beans, a dash of oregano (if using) and water to cover 2 inches above the beans. Bring to boil over high heat, reduce the heat to low, and cook partly covered, until tender. Keep water in reserve to replenish the cooking liquid as necessary so the beans are always covered by at least 1-inch. The beans should be cooked until tender, about 1 hour. Drain excess liquid. Place the beans in a bowl and mash until pureed. Season with salt and black pepper and keep at room temperature.
To assemble the plate: Heat a saute pan over medium-high heat. Add enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Place the fritters in the hot oil and cook until golden brown on each side. Reduce to low flame and continue to cook until the fritter is hot throughout. Serve immediately, with a dollop of sour cream and cured red onions.

Plantain Dough

  • 3 black plantains
  • Bread Crumbs

Rinse the plantains with the skins on. Place the plantains in a sauce pan and cover with hot water. Place the saucepan over high heat and cook until the skins of the plantain start to open. Drain the liquid and lay the plantains to cool. Peel the plantains while the plantains are still warm, mash in a bowl to form a dough. If the dough is too wet add bread crumbs until workable. Divide the dough into 8 balls. Using a clean flat surface, flatten the balls into round circles 1-inch thick. Spoon 1/4 teaspoon of the black bean mixture in the center of the plantain. Fold the edges of the plantain over the center of the plantain to close the bean mixture inside. If you can't cover all the bean mix, take a piece of plantain mash and place over the beans, while forming into a 1-inch thick round circle.

Cured Red Onions:

  • 3 red onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice

Place the sliced red onions in a small shallow container. Pour the lime juice over the onions, and season with salt. Mix well to combine the flavors. Cover and let sit in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.

Please use your own personal discretion /caution if you are allergic, sensitive or unsure.

...is a great inspirational tool. The language is familiar to the heart and messages exude grace, as well as renewed strength within our purposes-which is what The FYF Blogazine is all about. Upon my reading I was elated by the forward thinking that is always embodied by a Power Passage. Gives you insight on how to continue further on the subject if you wish. Chapter #19 "I Am Rich In the Grace Of God" and Chapter #28 "Inner Peace Builds Outer Strength" are my favorites but the books offering has so much more to each who reads it.
It's about great points, it's about our personal power as well as the highest power of them all and it's available in bookstores/online now! If you read it, let us know about it.

A Beautiful Mind welcomes

NIKIA L. MORALES (CA/MN)

I've lived in in both Northern California and Minnesota. I currently reside in Southern California.

1. If there's a song that reflects your vibe, what would that song be? Do you meditate, pray or/and take time to mentally relax? If so, what part of the day? For how long?

I Can See in Color by Mary J. Blige, this song reflects exactly where I am in my life right now. The opening of the song is the most poignant for me......It took a long time to get to this place; And now that im here, no one can ever erase-; The joy that I feel..way down deep inside; The love that I have for me will never never die; I can see in color.....If april showers bring flowers then I need I need more rain
To quench the drought in me so rain on me... Yes I meditate, fast, pray and work-out to keep me mentally balanced. I actually ,meditate and pray while taking a shower...LOL...it's the one time of day and place that I'm not interrupted. I will usually work-out after I leave the office...my usual work out last about 2 hours.

2. Tell us about being THE TRAVEL GIRL
The Travel Girl is a niche agency focused on providing travel service to the entertainment industry as well as unique travel experiences for individuals/families and groups. The Travel Girl specializes in tours, productions, event management and personal travel for discriminating clients looking for a one of a kind experience (Safaris, Guided Tours, Educational and Humanitarian Travel Experiences....anything that will create a beautiful memory).

3. What new result (s) and/or positive occurrences are you most proud of so far from this?

As a result of me stepping out on Faith and creating my company I've been asked to consult on another start-up travel business focused on bringing deeply discounted one of a kind luxury trips to the public and I've also been asked to host a weekly travel segment for a news Website....this web-page will target the "Black in America" demographic.

4.What early part of your life's journey prompted you to go forth this necessary outlet?

I was prompted to start my Agency after the break-up of an 8 year relationship. The last year of that relationship was one of the darkest times in my life...I suffered physical, emotional and verbal abuse from a man that said that he loved me, I had an ovarian tumor the size of a grapefruit that was border line cancerous and would have became cancerous if my Doctor had not been as proactive as he was, about 6 months after my surgery I found out I was pregnant but lost the baby in my 3rd month of pregnancy due to stress and if that wasn't enough I lost my job as a Travel Agent for a prominent music company. After I lost my job the man that I spent almost a decade with decided that I was no longer the woman he needed in his life....essentially leaving his 80% for an unknown 20%. LOL....he came home one day after spending the weekend with the "other woman" and began to tell me just how much more she was then me....I decided to leave..just to have my car break down...so here I am in this house that is no longer a home...childless...man-less...car-less...jobless...but not clueless....with the love and support of my sister/friends...I called my 86 year old grandfather to pick me up...I took my clothes in garbage bags...a computer...a TV...my dog...and left...leaving him with everything else...including the Land Rover that I helped him to purchase before I lost my job. I spent about 2 months feeling sorry for myself but knowing that I had to make something happen in my life...God had just provided me with a "do-over" at the age of 34 and I could not mess this opportunity up. While waiting for my EDD appeal I began to attend a local Junior college so that I could re-group and gain a new focus and perspective. Being able to network with out the hindrance of a relationship I met Pat Walker of Pat Walker Travel in Beverly Hills at a Travel Industry event hosted by the Sofitel LA. Pat is owner of the only Black owned agency in Beverly Hills...she has since become my mentor and inspiration....it was with her love and faith that she offered me an opportunity as an Independent Contractor under her umbrella and gave me the tools to be able to make my dreams a reality. Thus...The Travel Girl was born!

5. WE all take on diverse tasks professionally & otherwise. With some of your successful experiences allowing you to connect with other purposeful, warm spirited people, what are some of your day to day activities?

I usually wake up and have a conversation with my Grand-parents first thing in the morning....we don't really discuss much...but I always leave these conversations feeling renewed and informed. After my morning ritual....I'm attached to my Blackberry...so returning e-mails or text....when I arrive in the office I will return phone calls...follow-up on request and update or create marketing material....I may have a business meeting or after work travel event....work out..and maybe have dinner with friends....LOL...pretty boring stuff!!

6. What do you do for fun? What new fun thing would you like to try?

I'm The Travel Girl..so I Travel for fun!! LOL...I also enjoy wine tasting, culinary experiences, shopping, and hanging out with friends...especially if it involves a spa!! I would like to try a Humanitarian Vacation (Habitat for Humanity), travel to the rain forest and maybe sky diving!!

7. One thing on my Life List is that I would love to visit Africa....not sure where yet....it's a big continent...I'm sure I'll have to do it in multiple visits! A visit to Japan would be a close second!

8. What/Who keeps your grounded in this ever changing world?

My Grandmother keeps me grounded. She is a strong woman and a true inspiration for any woman of color. Whenever I feel like I can't do something...I think of her taking the bus to school with two little girls under 5...married to an alcoholic (my Grand-father has since cleaned up his act...and is an ordained minister...Pastoring a church in South LA)...doing piece work during the day and attending school at night...she eventually graduated as an AKA with a Masters degree in Education from USC....and retired as an Elementary School Principal. Later in life she also became an ordained minister and is Assistant Pastor to her Husband. Whenever I start to get above my depth...she gently pulls my coat -tails back to earth!

9. What are 2 qualities that you prefer and respect about your mate at this point in your life?

I'm currently very single....in the words of Lady GaGa..."I'm a FREE B**** Baby" But in a perspective mate...I would truly value a man that has his own mind and his own goals, someone that loves his Mother, if he has children takes care of his children and respects their mother, someone with a great sense of humor and a spirit of adventure!

10. Who gave you 1 really good piece of advice early on and what was it?

My Mentor told me to stay Focused! And another friend the Fabulous Mr. Stephen Cassell told me to use my personality and to not be afraid of a little hard work!

11. What piece of business advice would you like to share?

Believe in your business, have goals, make a plan to attain them, know that there will be lessons disguised in the form of set-backs, trust God to give you discernment and wisdom in your decisions, learn how to wear many hats, never fight a battle that will cost you more capitol then return on investment, and stay focused, driven and humble.

12. What is NEXT for you in 2010 and beyond?

My goal for 2010 is to GRAB IT!! Beyond 2010 changing lives and creating a legacy of success!

13. Choose 1: High Heel, Low Heel OR No Heel? High Heel!
Choose 1: Novel, Biographies, Inspirational Book OR Blog ? Novel and Inspirational

Choose 1: Fresh Fruit, Fruit Smoothie OR Fresh Fruit Juiced? Fresh fruit

14. What word would best describe you right now? COMPLETE....

LANISHA TOWNSEND (GA/OH)

I am originally from Columbus, Ohio and I reside in Atlanta, GA and have for over 16 years.
1. If there's a song that reflects your vibe, what would that song be? Do you meditate, pray or/and take time to mentally relax? If so, what part of the day? For how long?
The songs that reflect my vibe would use is "Closer" by Goapele, its a strong motivational, true song to play daily and "GOD In Me" by Mary Mary, need I say more? I love to read motivational books, I mediate a couple times monthly and I pray daily. I meditate in a private nature filled environment or while I am getting a facial for about 15 to 30 minutes. I pray in morning, through out the day and in the evening, if you know like I do, praying will keep me motivated during the day and positive lol. Some day's I find myself just asking GOD, please help me before I go to far lol, I am sure you know exactly what I mean!!

4.What early part of your life's journey prompted you to go forth this necessary outlet?

The concept was just a thought while I was in college about 3 years ago, I knew I wanted to help the community and businesses to be more effectively and proficient but just didn't know how. I then prayed one night for a vision from GOD; the vision became reality only a few weeks later. People were always asking me for help with their events and projects because they understood and respected my passion, as well as, my professionalism. In a lot of situations I felt like "If Only I Could Do More” so I did just that.

5. With some of your successful experiences allowing you to connect with other purposeful people, what are some of your day to day activities?

Wake up, thank GOD for another day, respond to emails for each company, put together seminar and segment concept for shows, check documents, fax documents, review documents, review videos and then begin calls. Check voice mails, return calls, lastly make runs, sometimes its meetings and sometimes its random task. My day can vary, depending on the work load and client. If I am lucky, I will get a 30 to 45 minute nap in between my day lol.....

6. What do you do for fun? What new fun thing would you like to try?
For fun, I pamper myself, I will get a facial, manicure, pedicure, and my hair done. Sometimes if my month isn't long I will take a weekend trip for some real peace and quiet. I would love to go skiing, scuba diving, fishing or camping.

7. One thing on my Life List (something you'd still love to accomplish but haven't done yet in this lifetime) is...to visit Africa the motherland, I would love to see the nature and the land.

8. What/Who keeps your grounded in this ever changing world?
GOD, my auntie Chris, my best friend Reginald and my Pit-Bull Suga

9.Who gave you 1 really good piece of advice early on and what was it?

My life and business coach Terrance Ross, "You Must Understand and Believe In Yourself Before Anyone Else Will" and "If You Don't Like Your Harvest, Then Change Your Seed", all powerful words to live by.

10. What piece of business advice would you like to share?Your net-work is your net-worth, always network at events, grocery stores, Walmart, gas station etc....you get the point!

Lastly, as an Entrepreneur, you must stay mentally productive, continue to educate yourself to stay abreast of new and upcoming information that will benefit you and your business. Education is important and vital to our society no matter how its obtained.

11. What is NEXT for you in 2010 and beyond? EVERYTHING!!!!The new season for Spotlight Tv, www.LanishaRene,com, seminars for LR Consulting Enterprise, and new programs for P.I.T.C (People in the Community)
