THE AUDACITY OF THE APPLE

The New Fruit Of The Month is the green apple. The green apple contains, but not limited to, fiber to promote cardio health (helps with waste elimination), Vitamin C (aims to pause wheezing, promotes better respiratory and kidney health), lowers cholesterol and Vitamin A ( maintain eyesight health). The green apple got the name "Granny Smith" apple after Maria Ann Smith for her New Zealand farms first siting of the reproduction of the green skinned fruit. A delicious and nutritious difference.Just as it's uniqueness, YOU should take inventory of your unique dietary needs to enhance your healthy methods of maintaining that enjoyable life of yours. Small additions can help to subtract the bigger worries.

Mini Skin Me Fruit Salad NOVEMBER 08

We drank 1 cup of water before indulging in this delight. Remove the skin of the green apple. Then slice the green apple in 6 sections. I slice those sections into cube size. I place a thin layer of whip cream in the bottom of a few short 8 oz. wine glasses. Mix a sprinkle of cinnamon with a handful of apple cubes, cherries and soft raisins. Scoop the fruits on top of the whip cream layer. No top layer of whip cream. Refrigerate for 5 minutes and share. It's a Mini "Skin Me" because I'm only using three fruits (usually it's 4 ). Fruit properties promote healthy skin. The whip cream is just goood, lol. It's best to have sugar in moderation so don't overdue it, if you try it:)

(Please use your own personal discretion /caution if you are allergic, sensitive or unsure.)

Adult Apple Caramel Sauce for Ice Cream:

I mixed 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 cups apple juice,1 vanilla bean. I peeled and removed seeds of 3 green apples as well as 1 Red Delicious apple then mashed then thoroughly for 4 minutes to mix with 1/5 cup (Laird & Co) apple brandy. Boiled apple juice, sugar and vanilla bean in a large saute pan over high heat and cook until slightly thickened and reduced to 1/2 cup. I stirred in a half teaspoon of melted butter with the apples and cooked until caramelized/soft.

I mixed 1 1/3 cups granulated sugar, 1/4 cup water, 2/3 cup heavy cream, some salt, 2 tablespoons of the apple brandy, 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract. I let sugar and water boil on high heat without stirring it, but I slightly tilted the pot to support an even blend until the color is spread for 10 minutes. I placed the heavy cream in a small pan while the caramel was being made and I brought it to a lower medium heat. Then just kept it cover and warm on the side. When the caramel has reached the desired color, slowly whisk in the heavy cream and salt and whisk until smooth. Then I mixed the salt, vanilla extract and heavy cream until it was smooth and stirred in the apple brandy after I took it off the immediate heat. Drizzle the sauce to your preference over your favorite vanilla ice cream scoops. (This one is not for children as it contains alcohol)

1. If there's a song that reflects your vibe, what would that song be? Do you meditate, pray or/and take time to mentally relax? If so, what part of the day? For how long?

My song is Desiree, "You Gotta Be"-the lyrics are great. The time I take for myself is generally one hour per day. I generally run, bike, swim from 6-7am before my kids get up...and then I hit it hard with getting the kids to school and then heading to work.

2. Tell us about the "Organic Eco-Chic beauty products company", JUICE BEAUTY.

I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Marla Maples yesterday, a Desperate Housewife was in our office all afternoon last week and Kate Hudson RAVES about Juice Beauty products in many magazines.

4.What early part of your life's journey prompted you to go into the Healthy Lifestyles industry and to create one of the first corporate wellness businesses in the country?

Well….I didn't have such a healthy childhood so it motivated me to dedicate my life to wellness and healthy lifestyles.

Green Apple Nutrient Eye Cream

A great addition to my day/night regimen. With a wonderful medley of carrot, avocado, cucumber, apple and aloe feeding the most delicate area of my face, I was delighted by how well it sustains a great lift and brightness.

Organic Facial Moisture Concentrate

My favorite product of the bunch! I love the scent and the combination of using it with the eye cream. It was more than what I ever expected it to be. The grapeseed and cranberry ingredients really came together to form something worthy of day and night application for me. It goes well under the SPF 30 Mineral Sheer Moisturizer (which is divine on the face with ample coverage without feeling oily) or even alone. I highly recommend this one for a rejuvenating treat.

Green Apple Mousse Body Cleanser

Leaves my skin feeling renewed with a hint of a tingle head to toe. I actually anticipate the fruity scented foam's glycerin properties to keep me cleansed beyond compare. It does not go on harsh nor does it dry out my skin. It's a keeper.

Green Apple Hydration Mask

Is greatly appreciated. It's alpha lipoic acid, lemon juice and Vitamin C packs a powerful pull of impurities from my body that left me feeling even more upbeat than I normally am. I use it 3 times a week generously on my neck, back and chest for 10 minutes. I can see why the oils of rosehip, primrose and manderin are considered essential oils that work wonders. After wards, you may actually feel yourself rinsing off the day of stress with this one.

Cleansing Milk

Removes even the slightest make up from the smallest areas in a soothing manner still. I washed my face with it day and evening only to be lead to a scent that is indescribably nice. With a cleanser born of raspberry, white grapes and aloe vera, how can it be anything else except yummy to the touch? My finger tips and the tip of my cheeks thank you for this one.

FYF/JUICE BEAUTY WINNERS and their GUEST REVIEWS

Angela (NY):
I love beauty products that do these things because I tend to break out sometimes and my skin is somewhat on the dry side. My nose is the only part of my face that gets oily. I am a vegetarian and organic anything is right up my alley. I didn't eat any fruits while trying this products but I love grapes. The Cleansing Milk and SPF 30 Mineral Sheer Moisturizer made me feel wonderful! The Cleansing Milk had a nice soft scent and it didn't dry my skin out at all. It made me feel so refreshed. The moisturizer was great as it left my skin looking clear and bright. I never had a moisturizer that made my skin glow like that and it didn't leave my skin greasy. It controlled the shine my nose always has, so I didn't have to pat my nose down with tissue like 20 times a day. It would get extremely oily and shiny...Ughhh!!I used the SPF 30 Mineral Sheer Moisturizer twice a day for a week. During the day I am a substitute teacher at an elementary school and I am the owner of a multi-faceted creative services agency that provides image consulting, fashion styling and event planning services. We represent celebrity wardrobe stylists and I am constantly looking for job opportunities for them, sending in portfolios, making phone calls, etc. I teamed up with a casting agency based in Atlanta and have been casting music videos as well. Business has me constantly updating my database. I haven't heard of JUICE BEAUTY before there's a product worth spreading the word about as I am truly impressed with how it made my skin feel. I was happy that I won. I would most definitely add this to my beauty regimen! Ladies go and get the Cleansing Milk and SPF 30 Mineral Sheer Moisturizer . You will not be disappointed!!

Stephanie (TX):
This was so much fun and right on time! My skin is normally dry. After using the Green Apple Peel (Sensitive) Treatment in the evenings once a a week, my skin felt smooth & fresh. I didn't use any other cleanser while I was trying it. It's important for me to keep my skin moisturized too... I do love when I find a great product that does the job well! Now my main duties consist of taking care of my daughter. I'm pregnant with my second child too so I crave apples and strawberries almost everyday. I haven't heard of Juice Beauty before but would I add this to my "must haves" ? Absolutely!!! Thank you for letting me be apart of this experience!

***************************************************

Choclatt (NJ):
HEY Giirl! Oh yes! I won! I I used both products every morning. I eat fruit everyday but these weeks I think I had apples, oranges and grapes. The SPF 8 Lip Moisturizer, Naturally Clear, was nice, made my lips very soft and has a nice fragrance. I like that it felt like it was barely there, very kissable... I wore it alone. The Green Apple Moisturizer was "the bomb" in the morning, nice and light and I love the apple scent! Because my skin is oily I'm shiny by the afternoon. I have very oily skin, I "dab" a little on the dry areas and I'm good. I have seen the products before, cant remember where though. I'm a sales consultant by day which is pretty exhausting so I wind down when I get home with some good gospel and a warm bath. I have two young children so there's homework, dinner, bath time, story time and then my beauty rest. I would absolutely add both items that I won to my list of goodies after bath time! But because of my "natural shine" I would definitely save the Green Apple Moisturizer for colder days when my skin tends to get a little dry. I'm headed to sephora to get more from the line. My daughter wants all the Green Apple gems! And what else you need a sister to try out? A fly pair of shoes or sumthin' :)

***************************************************

Annabelle (NY):
Hi. I always look for something new and fitting for my skin. Especially in the winter time I look for "ideal moisturizers". The SPF 8 Lip Moisturizer, Playful does a very good job and I love the smell of it! My face is very sensitive so I was glad to have won the body cream. It too was very good. My skin is really dry so I like something nourishing. The Green Apple SPF 20 Antioxidant Body Moisturizer cream was used once a day but the lip moisturizer-I used 3-4 times a day and will keep it in regular use. I love organic. I eat apples all the time. Sometimes I'm working on set, going to art gallery openings, screening films or going to meetings pertaining to story board changes. I love beauty products but I'm so busy, I like to use stuff that works and keeps me going. Thank you so much for choosing me.

***************************************************

Shakera (SC):
During my lunch break, I was check my email and read that I had won. I was really excited! It was a tedious morning and I was assessing my students. I needed that uplifting message and it actually made me smile. I'm not a frequent user of beauty products but I am definitely a fan of ones that can keep my skin smooth. I love fruits and organic ones at best. Apples and Oranges and Pears, OH MY! lol The SPF 8 Lip Moisturizer-Natural Flavor actually made me comfortable. I use it at least four times a day. Naturally Clear feels great and keeps my lips smooth!

The Green Apple Hydration Mask was a cooling and relaxing sensation. I actually was excited about using this product for my face. My skin is dry, all of the time. I used the mask every 2 evenings. I am a Kindergarten Teacher at a Charter School and the Teacher Representative of the Parent Teacher Organization with extended school days. I come home , cook dinner and lately I do my ten minute mask to clean off the day. After some light relaxing, a little school work, the nightly news, and preparing for the next day, I curl up next to my man-- THE PILLOW! lol I never heard of Juice Beauty Organics and even though I'm not an avid user of beauty products, this one really stuck with me. The two products I won are great for me. Thanks F.Y.F. I was more confident about wearing lip balm and showing off my full lips. I absolutely loove my lips--just never knew there would be a lip balm for me. Smoothness and nice scent. I definitely encourage all my sisters to look forward to the possibility of getting your name "picked out of the hat" and having that beauty engulfed on you. :)

BE MY GUEST:

*****Deirdre's Wedding Word Of The Month****

Good morning, my FYF Wedding Word Of The Month is Blessed. As the countdown continues and the day (January 24th 2009) approaches I feel overwhelmed but abundantly blessed. I'm waiting to see what else God has in store. The wonderful man that I'm going to marry is Jerry Simmons. Our colors are chocolate and pink. "A Harlem Knight Meets A Southern Bell" If you know us, you know it's very true:) I am preparing for a speaking engagement in Vegas, grad school and critique wedding details and I am elated to share this busy part of my journey with you guys. Who knew that a surprise birthday party for him (which he somehow found out about) would turn into a surprise proposal for me. Tears, smiles and family everywhere. Congratulations to all the brides/grooms of 2008 and 2009---heeeere we come! A year of change, challenges and chances.

My dress is coming. My shoes are coming. YES! Timelines drive you crazy. I am concerned about the invitations. We have the DJ, the reception hall and have been attending bridal shows! Each step is done with love and style just like we love it in Little Rock Arkansas (my hometown) and Michigan. 4 bridesmaids equal 4 times the laughter, fun and tears as we reminscence thru it all. Dare I ask, where is my photographer? No ones called me back? How many people does she think she's bringing? Who ordered the decoration additions? lol Goodness... (Okay higher power, we got this) Have a great November. Thank you and see you in December. God bless.

-Deirdre
